It's hard to imagine that the number of people actually converting to JWism in their 20s or 30s is anything more than the tiniest trickle these days, in the West at least.

classification of Jehovahs Witness members by when they joined up
by besty injust got to thinking how long can the watchtower peddle the 'soon' story with any credibility?.
i would say there are the oldtimer or born ins in the 70+ age group - they possibly remember the 2nd world war, and maybe joined for 1975 or made life affecting decisions meaning they are so commited with 'nowhere else to go' that they have surrendered to the resurrection hope.. then you have the '1986 international year of peace, the 1914+70 year' generation crowd.
people in their 40s and 50s now.

The Governing Bodys irrational fear of the Apostate Boogeyman
by Londo111 inhttp://freeminds2.org/the-theocratic-life-and-times-of-theodore-jaracz/.
i was reading the above article by barbara anderson and was struck that, rather than knowing better, the governing body actually believes in this shadowy organization of former members who are out to attack them.
[jaracz] said that the governing body had been preparing for much longer than anybody could guess for an attack by apostates.

Wow. Like, how exactly? Apostate-driven tanks gonna show up at Bethel's front door someday? dafuq?
"Breaking news, apparently a large group of former Jehovahs Witnesses are attacking the headquarters of the Watchtower Bible Society in Brooklyn Heights..."
ROFL! Jaracz was mad as a hatter!!

Prophets of Doom (interesting history podcast)
by fresh prince of ohio ina favorite podcast of mine for several years now has been dan carlin's hardcore history.
dan has a real gift for storytelling, and is a serious and humble student of history.. a recent episode (which i still haven't finished) deals with events that transpired in the german city of muenster in the early 1500s, events specifically related to the rise of protestantism and a millenial-apocalyptic fervor (with date setting and everything) that gripped a good chunk of the very, very religious populace, particularly the anabaptists.. the jw parallels are obvious, as you will discover if you decide to give it a listen.. http://www.dancarlin.com//disp.php/hharchive/show-48---prophets-of-doom/luther-reformation-history.

Have you listened to his podcast "The Ghosts of Osfront"?
If I have, I've forgotten about it - but I'm pretty sure I haven't. I'll be sure to check it out.
Cool to know that I'm not the only person on here that enjoys this podcast!
Aren't the Anabaptists one of the sects that JW's believed were " Bible Heroes?" Going D2D preaching, probably members of the "slave class?"
It wouldn't surprise me, given the similarities. But, typical of the WTS, if they ever did publish something about Anabaptists in this context, then they had to have gone pretty 3rd grade level on the details.

Other musicians who covered Cale's work include The Band, Chet Atkins, Freddie King, Maria Muldaur and Captain Beefheart, according to his biography, which also notes he was asked whether it bothered him that fellow musicians considered him a legend while many fans did not even know his name.
"No, it doesn't bother me," Cale said. "What's really nice is when you get a check in the mail."

Is The Watchtower Spawning An Entire Industry Of Freedom Fighters?
by Narcissistic Supply in167,000 people cast off annually by the jw's; the number of broken and destroyed families grows to the millions?28 million dollars defending child endangerment?
are you kidding me?10's of millions "mentally diseased apostates" undermining the real estate laundering corporation?800 million in real estate sold in brooklyn *recently* by the jw ficticious business name statement?jehovah witness corporation crawling on its belly like a reptile to upstate new york?big money to be made eating the eyeballs out of the corporation?new tales of jw horror published daily?

Tens of millions of apostates...wow, sorry, but let's not kid ourselves.
While lots of people leave or are forced out of that mess, i'd guess that only a small percentage of those that do truly break free from it mentally.

"I just don't think I'm ready to get baptized yet. I know that the general thing is to do it when you're 12 or 13, but I also know that a lot of people who do that wind up getting DF'd later in life, so it makes me wonder, did they get baptized just because they felt pressured to? I really want to be sure that if I do get baptized, that it's my own decision, between me and Jeehoovy, and not because I feel pressured to."
Worth a try. Might buy you some time.

It's one, er. seven, of thousands of books I'd like to read. If things go well, I'll be able to get through another two to three hundred books before my biological functions cease. So how to narrow down...
